Three spoken word poets from the Quad Cities area narrate their thoughts on the art form - how it has changed their lives, and the potential it has to help others.

spoken was developed as a final documentary project for a Documentary Production class at Loyola University Chicago. I myself am a long-time fan of spoken word poetry as an art form, and I’ve found it often overlooked as a means of expression for marginalized communities. spoken was my small attempt at highlighting the voices of some poets from my own hometown whose work and tenacity inspire me.
